Great Barrier Reef - Whitsundays

The World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and the largest living structure on Earth. The marine park that encapsulates the reef and its numerous ecosystems follows the Queensland coastline and covers an area of over 344,400 square kilometres, with a total length of over 2000 kilometres.

The Whitsundays is located in the Heart of the Great Barrier Reef and is the perfect base to explore this aquatic wonderland.

Visitors can enjoy this bucket-list experience in many different ways. You can choose to swim, snorkel, dive, sail and fly over this natural wonder, including the most photographed reef in the world, Heart Reef. You can even sleep there, either under the stars or in the only underwater hotel on the Great Barrier Reef.

The Whitsundays is recognised as having some of the best fishing in Queensland. Charter vessels operating out of Airlie Beach and the resort islands offer a variety of trips to the rich waters of the outer Great Barrier Reef.

With so many ways to have your Great Barrier Reef experience - you might have to choose more than one!
